From the first Apple ][ computer I got when I was a kid, technology has always been an integral part of my life. While I can "geek out" and learn any technology required by any given project, my creative side and my years as a consultant have taught me that it is usually best to "keep it simple" when designing solutions. Ultimately, something I build should have a long life and should be easy for others to maintain. I do think it's worth paying for quality consulting and engineering solutions; but the purpose of those solutions should always be to solve the business problem and not to serve as a semi-permanent employment option for the consultant. My biggest compliment was getting a call 5 years after a project I did for the Royal Bank of Canada during which a developer had a simple question about my code and he informed me that this was the first time anyone needed to touch my code in the 5 years and it was only to add a small feature request.

Experience
I've worked with technology from an early age. My parents supported my technology passion buying me my first computer when I was very young and for a price that would have purchased a new car back in those days. My father's mechanical inclination served as a model for my technical inclinations and curiosity to learn. I've taught myself dozens of programming languages from Python to PHP, from C# to Java. The one thing that has been a consistent theme across my career is that technology is a means to an end. I have always been a problem solver and consulting has been a great fit for that skill. No matter how hot the fire I get thrown into, I have always been able to problem solve my way to success.
Building software for the real estate space has always been something I've wanted to tackle. Having been through a number of less than satisfactory transactions from the consumer perspective, I decided that I should learn the business from the inside. Starting my own brokerage has been a learning experience in many ways. It has given me the perspective to design and develop tools to improve the process for real estate agents and ultimately ensure a better and more consistent experience for home sellers and buyers.
- Managed all technology projects for FII: websites, donation page, internal and external web and mobile apps, SalesForce.com custom apps — both internally architected and developed projects and projects developed by consultants.
- Architected and developed private social network web and mobile app for connecting families to each other and to resources offered by FII and partners.
- Incubated and developed a number of startups with a group of former colleagues. Engaged a number of clients on technology and business consulting projects.
- Developed the web property (www.weedist.com) and Objective C mobile app for Weedist (arbitrarily rejected from Apple App Store despite there being other similar cannabis legalization / education apps already approved).
- Developed Redwood Garden Delivery’s front and back end infrastructure for their website, order management and back office processes using Python on Google App Engine
